Creating this piece was an initiation to say the least, you can’t make a necklace for Kali without her serving you on a platter a whole lot of rage from the repressed feminine and then cackle as she watches you birth the heads of tiny white men to be sacrificed for her adornment and reverence… keeping it casual over here as usual ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥

I have so many ideas swirling around and landing and checking back in and leaving and today I was feeling tentative to start a new project, to bust through the initial inner process of fear, wondering if I had the nerve to start even if it meant the possibility of falling flat on my face and nothing working- which happens sometimes!! and I admitted it out loud to my partner over a cup of tea, he gave me a pep talk and reminded me it was ok to fail! At least to have a try I had more chance of success than if I didn’t try at all! And yes I got in there and made something siiik…Because it is a numbers game and it is a practice and you have to take yourself to the canvas and surrender again and again just in case something good chooses move through you! So if you’re waiting to start because you’re scared too… basically this is your pep talk to go do it now!!

Before humans made functional ceramics we made magical, ceremonial, ritual ware to express and connect with the divine.

Calling down into the mud, the earth, the material the mysticism inherent to our very existence.

Finding the expression of it through our hands, though its embodiment in human form, in animal form, in elemental form… channeling it from other realms.

It is an absolute privilege to be able to have practiced as a full time artist last year, a dream that I have carried with me for over 20 years.

Thank you @ross_creek_gallery for presenting my first solo exhibition ‘forgotten realms’, which has now officially come to a close. This show was deeply personal and it means so much to have had it received with reverence and resonance.

I am absolutely delighted at the work that was sold and collected by those that attended and reached out online. Your pieces will be with you shortly.
